Passage of the Maryland Whole Watershed Act (MD SB921)

Chesapeake Conservancy played a central role in crafting and advancing the Maryland Whole Watershed Act, working closely with Maryland Senator Sarah Elfreth and key partners. Building on success with Pennsylvania’s stream delisting efforts, Chesapeake Conservancy championed this legislation as part of Maryland’s response to the Chesapeake Bay Program’s report A Comprehensive Evaluation of System Response (CESR). The act leverages precision data to enhance watershed management and created the Whole Watershed Fund to support water quality improvement projects across the state.
