The establishment of the Southern Maryland Woodlands National Wildlife Refuge, in partnership with the Southern Maryland Conservation Alliance (SMCA), marks a significant conservation achievement. Spanning a 577,000-acre acquisition boundary, this will be Maryland’s first new national wildlife refuge in over 60 years and will safeguard vital habitats in southern Maryland.
