Major Progress to Establish Chesapeake National Recreation Area

The campaign to establish  Chesapeake National Recreation Area took a giant leap forward in late July with the introduction of a bill to create a land-based park, uniting new and existing National Park Service (NPS) sites and trails and partner parks to increase public access to the Chesapeake Bay. If passed into law, the designation would open the way for a national park-worthy visitor experience for all to enjoy. Chesapeake Conservancy led a coalition of more than 140 key stakeholders to galvanize bipartisan support for introducing the bill and is now working to encourage legislators to vote in support of this new unit of the National Park System.
